Greetings!
Welcome to the World Design Association.
My name is Brian Purkiss and I am the geek who came up with this crazy idea.

First off I want to thank you for coming, I am honored that you have visited the WDA.

What is the World Design Association?

The WDA is a web site devoted to design.
The plan is for the WDA to be “by designers, for designers” through a designers archive, showcase, job board, forum, and blog. The WDA shall do so by providing inspiration, jobs, advice, resources, tutorials, design-related articles, and more for designers with a few days or many years of design experience.

The WDA Designers Archive

Finding clients is the biggest challenge a designer faces. With all the brother’s-friend’s-nephews who have Photoshop and/or Dreamweaver (so that automatically makes them a web/graphic/print designer), finding quality designers appears to be a problem. Either that, or clients simply don’t know the difference.

The Designers Archive will simply be an archive (duh) of professional designers. In order to be added to the archives, a designer must submit at least three examples of your work to be displayed on your own page in the Archives. Furthermore, designers may submit their own, custom, 970×200px image with their (or their company’s) name, logo, etc… as well as a description/sales pitch, and contact info.

The WDA Showcase

Finding quality inspiration can sometimes be very difficult. This showcase will fix that.

The WDA Showcase will feature high-quality web sites (both flash and static), logo design, graphic design, and print work. Though all additions can be voted on, only professional-grade design work will make it into the Showcase. To ensure you find exactly the inspiration you need, the featured designs will be searchable by name, type, color scheme, design style, and more.

The WDA Job Board

Since the WDA is entirely focused on giving as much to the designers, the Job Board will be free to post on and view. Other than that… It’s just a job board - for designers.

The WDA Forum

Though the WDA is brand new, I hope to build a strong and friendly community. The forum (powered by Vanilla) will cover all aspects of design, again, for new and experienced designers.

Again, like just about everything else here at the WDA, the blog will cover all aspects of design. The blog will feature posts by anyone willing to share their knowledge (provided that it is a quality post :-P ).
